How to Make a Solar Panel and Save Money Using Solar Cells

Making solar panels has become more popular as we have headed into economic hard times. Each day, thousands of residential solar panels are being installed in homes, and DIY solar panels are quickly becoming the wave of the future. So, how to make a solar panel? It’s not as complicated as one might think and it can save you tons of money over the course of a year.

What to know before you start

Solar panels are not only helping people lower their electric bills, but they are safe for the environment and are a reliable source of energy. Ready-made solar panels can cost thousands of dollars, but making one on your own won’t cost more than $200, and these costs are quickly recovered when you start to save money on your monthly electric bills. This eco-friendly form of powering the electrical components of your life will save you money on your electric bill, not to mention the tax credits that are available.

About Solar Cells

The most important part of making solar panels is the solar cells, also called photovoltaic cells. These cells are relatively cheap and can be found online for as low as $1 per cell. However, it is important to do your research and make sure you are buying good quality solar panels, as the market is full of poor quality solar cells.

Solar cells are wired together with copper wiring and arranged in the solar panels to convert sun into electricity. The solar cells need to be stacked horizontally together and placed at such an angle in proximity to the sun that it can capture and store the maximum amount of sunlight.

Even a small, 200-watt solar panel can convert enough sunlight into energy that will charge a battery or be converted to AC voltage for use within the house. When you want to use energy to power your house electricity, an inverter converts AC to DC power and the battery collects and stores power for when the sun is low or there are power outages.

Making Solar Panels

Solar panel kits make building a solar panel quick and easy. They include solar cells, soldering iron, solder, flux, tabbing and detailed instructions. Solar panel cells can be found online or at many retailers.

Making a solar panel at home does not have to be complicated and doesn’t require any previous experience to do it. And best of all, it can be a big money saver once they are installed and storing one of the world’s most natural resources – sunlight.

What types solar cells are better for use in solar panels?

Amorphous cells, Polycrystalline cells, Single-Cell Solar cells
can you tell me which one is better according to power produced?

They are too expensive ,and the pay out will probably not be very good. Note of caution !! mount them very sturdy as they have a lot of surface so a little wind can tare them up.
