Tools
for the Serious Tool Users
Level 3:
Serious Tool Users
What
defines a serious tool user? At TylerToolshed.com, the definition of a serious tool user is anyone who is always
doing one project after another, be it around the house or working on the car. From minor repairs to painting to
remodeling the kitchen, serious tool users are always working on something be it big or small. When it comes to
cars, a serious tool user is somebody who rebuilds engines, remodel their own car’s interior and probably works
on other people’s cars on the side.
If you
are a serious tool user, you really need to expand your tool arsenal well beyond the confines of the toolbox;
you need to think of a tool cabinet. These are like the ones auto mechanics have in their shops. These cabinets
have drawers that lock and they have wheels so they can move around easily. Anyone who does major projects
around the house and on cars needs to have specialized tools and equipment.
First of
all, you need to consider going beyond electrical tools; you might want to consider going with air tools.
Compressed air usually gives much more power than electrical tools, depending on the specific tool. And some
people feel that it is easier to work with air tools than electrical tools. So, if you want to go with air
tools, you need to get yourself a good compressor. Compressors will run on a small gas engine and once the air
is up to a certain pressure, the hose will give you all the power you need. Air tools are great for working on
cars and whatever else you need.
Outside
of the regular tools previously discussed for users in level 2, as a serious tool user you need many specialized
tools, including saws, sanders, routers, drills, paint gun, and many other pieces of equipment, depending on
your projects. When looking to buy large tools for special projects do think long term because you do not have
to buy a tool for just the one time. Another route you might want to consider is to rent equipment for specific
projects. For example, in many cities you can rent a power washer, versus going out and buying one just to use
once a year or just for the project.
Your
tools also should include a library of how-to books and videos. Like anything else, you need knowledge in order
to do something that is new, and there are many books and videos to show you how to do almost anything. From
foundation repair on the house to rebuilding an engine, there are no shortages of books and videos that will
give you the knowledge that you need. These instructional materials are also considered tools in your arsenal.
Just like a hammer or a wrench, a good how-to book or how-to video can really make a difference between doing
something right and guessing and then going very wrong with your project.
